Well...It's Christmas! well sort of... my Festoll CT22-E Hepa Dust Extractor, ETS 150/3EQ ROS sander, and DX 93-E plus detail sander just arrived. I bought them from Jamestown Distributors. It appears as though they had it drop shipped from ToolTechnic systems. VERY POORLY PACKAGED. Came in two boxes and UPS beat the daylights out them both. They both lacked sufficent packing materials to keep the boxes stiff so they crushed. The tools themselves were well packaged in there own boxes and survived the UPS test. . I also got a Fein Turbo III vac the other day. In comparing the two, they are both EXCELLENT. I have never owned a portable vacuum as powerful as either one. The Fein is a little quieter, but just barely. Both are very quiet. The Festool has a suction control that allows you to ease up on the power for delicate areas like inside a guitar...pretty kool! The Festool also comes with the Hepa filter which is extra for the Fein. Both have the option of being activated by the tool they are hooked up to...nice feature. The Festool sanders come in their own cases that actually latch onto the top of the Vac (and stack) so you can move everything around securely as one unit. I haven't tried the sanders yet, but they are very rugged and look and feel like they are well made. I'll let you know some more as I use them.

Great report Hesh...thanks.

What's with UPS???????? I keep hearing more and more how they are destroying stuff. We've had trouble with them recently at work too. It's ridiculous...

Merry Christmas Dave! It's always fun to get packages. Thanks for the info.

I've started writing "Hit me" on my boxes instead of "Fragile", you know, that reverse psychology thing...

Thanks Craig and Dave! It sure feels like Christmas when you get nice things. Funny how when you get older TOOLS become your "toys"/presents. Here in Florida it never feels like Christmas weather wise, so getting something nice in the mail is like a trigger for the season. Although, with two kids and a wife (who thinks money is printed at kinkos) I am in NO rush for the REAL Holiday! December 25 will be here soon enough.

Dave,
I really like the Fein vac.III used it last night with Luthiers sanding Jig to make a bridge( cocobolo - usually a very itchy job)...there was no dust ( well maybe a teeny tiny bit somewhere). Nothing like my other wet/dry vac from H.D. I didn't even wear an apron. Best of all was it was QUIET.

I think buying good stuff is well worth the satisfaction you get, even with the high price - sometimes...
